Aesthetics, the altar and the ego.

Aesthetics, the altar and the ego.

As a diviner.. everything you seek is a reflection of you that you yearn to unearth from elements, tools, ethers and beyond. Every way that the diviner, the spiritualist or the seeker seeks - all those ways create a sacred spiral, a kind of sacred repetition of sorts ascending from death to rebirth- of cycles, habits, and in general the evolution of life, through life itself.
The altar for a witch is as nonlinear as that sacred spiral of death rebirth and the repetition leading to breakthroughs. The altar is not a perfectly designed sacred space glimmering and shining the interior designer skills, far from it actually. The creation of the altar is the witch’s traveled spectrum of life lived, fulfilled and unfulfilled.
Through the established to the destructive, through the destructive to the established- the altar travels through a whole myriad of ideological travelogues, the altar is not a static point, the altar pulsates life,
Me, an animist and a spirit worker- the ones like me/us - we see the altar spaces as living entities. The frankincense burning, the flowers, the skull worship, the feathers , the sacred soil from the sacred dead, the luminous crystals- all and everything creates the path, and the seeker knows that the nature of the altar may always change and transform .. always living up to the seeker’s personal life experiences.
So dont instil the ego on the altar, instead let it flow its course to be storyless and free, attaching the ego to the altar is like forcing aesthetics that may not align with your journey altogether!
Being a Hekatian witch.. my altar sometimes is all about roses .. but sometimes all about thorns and dirt.
Celebrate the quality of liminality when it comes to creation. Creation is a sacred act, so create the altar devoid of preconditions, devoid of performative ideals, devoid of forced aesthetics.
Let beauty allow you to broaden your perspectives, and beauty is a free flowing cascading waterfall of ‘not knowing’ , begin from there, the sacred leap!
